Block Printing

Woodblock printing is a technique for printing text, images or patterns. This is preformed by carvings made out of wood and then pressed into ink and then paper to create an image.

An Artist who uses this technique is Hiroshi Yoshida who is a Japanese artist.

Printing Plates

The plates may be made of metal, plastic, rubber, paper, and other materials. This technique is created by carving fine lines into either piece of material and then pressed into ink and then paper. I find the technique very difficult and time consuming.

Movable Type

Movable type is a system of printing that uses movable components like letters to reproduce documents e.g. books. This became very handy in the 14th century to create more copies of the bible.
