Bridget Riley

Bridget Louise Riley was born on the 24th of April, 1931 in Norwood, England. Riley is an English painter who is one of the foremost exponents of Op Art. She currently lives and works in London, Cornwall, and France. The main central ideas she uses in her work is line. I believe her work is very abstract by the way she makes an illusion from her work that plays a trick on the mind making you think her pieces moves. The thing that appeals to me is how her work is very clean with smooth nice lines. I also like the way she has made illusions out of her work. I also find it interesting how she was apart of a movements of art. The types of materials she uses is acrylic paints, oils and screen prints. Her work reminds me of waves in a way but also illusions.

Frank Stella

Frank Phillip Stella was born on May 12, 1936 in Malden, Massachusetts. He is an American painter and printmaker that currently lives and continues with his work in New York. His main central ideas he uses in his work is colour. I find his work very abstract that pops out by the use of colour combinations he uses.  I believe Stella has his own distinctive style that flows well together. The thing about his work that appeals to me is its very different and i like the way it stands out by all the chaotic feel he has put in his work. I believe he has mastered entwining different aspects of random coloured objects by combining them together to create his pieces. Stella uses many materials as he is a sculptor, printmaker and painter; some main materials he would use is acrylic paint, sculpting materials and screenprint. His work is very geometrical and abstract which reminds me of illusions.
